Brief history of Yamaha Motor Company. The Yamaha Motor Company was founded in 1950, before expanding into the motorcycle field, they were originally known as the Yamaha Corporation that became the largest piano makers in the world. Owing to the Yamaha Corporation experience of research in metal alloys for use of acoustic pianos the Yamaha Corporation took a leap into the motorised world of motorcycles, therefore expanding into a separate company now known as Yamaha Motor Company and has since grown to become the world's second largest manufacturer of motorcycles behind Honda who is the world's motorcycle manufacturing company. The Yamaha RD250 is powered by a 247 cc, air cooled, 2 - cylinders in line, 2-stroke Bore & Stroke: 54 mm x 54 mm, 30hp engine.
