The Italian Motorcycle Manufacturers were quick to accept the idiocy of matching the Japanese in the volume production lightweight motorcycles, but instead, the Italians figured that their future lies in the top end of the motorcycle market. They took the notion of producing high-powered sophisticated high-performance machines. Motorbike machines that captured the imagination with flair in design with special characteristics with notable deluxe qualities. One of the more famous Italian Motorcycles apart form the MV Agusta 750S was the Ducati 900SS based on Mike Hailwood's Formula one Isle of Man TT winning bike of 1978. Ducati motorcycle Marquee was established in 1950. The first Ducati large capacity Superbike was produced in 1971. It was the Ducati 748cc V-twin OHC machine with a top speed of 115mph.
