Engineer Dr. Fabio Taglioni was the corner stone of the the Ducati motorcycle world, when Mercedes Benz discarded the Desmodromic system from their racing automobile racing project it was Dr. Fabio Taglioni who furthered the development of the desmodromic system for adaptability to Ducati Motorcycles. This resulted in the celebrated British motorcycle racing champion, Mike Hailwood requesting that the Ducati Motorcycle Company produced a motorcycle machine that is of superior performance. Dr. Fabio Taglioni took up the challenge of designing a bike for Mike Hailwood and the result was the famous 1960 Ducati 250 twin-cylinder racing motorbike and that was the beginning of a long association between Mike Hailwood and Dr. Fabio Taglioni. In 1958 Ducati introduced a Fabio Taglioni designed a single cylinder motorcycle, known as the Ducati 200cc Elite GT, a lightweight bike that is now a classic motorcycle legend. |
