Photograph of this delightfully stunning 1974 Ducati 450 Desmo was taken on location at Birch Park, Colchester on 15th July 2007. The 1974 Ducati 450 Desmo bike was designed by Ducati's talented engineer, Dr. Fablio Taglioni who joined Ducati motorcycle company in 1954. Fablio Taglioni successfully developed the Desmosedici engine for Ducati bikes to control valve float by having the valves positively opened and closed without using conventional springs. The desmodromic technology is still in use today powering Ducati motorcycles. The Ducati 450 Desmo motorcycle was first launched in 1969. Starting a Ducati 450 Desmo required a special knack to do a kick start. It had no electric starter. Simon Morris is the proud owner of this 450 Motorbike because, it is still the only motorcycle to win a Production Unlimited Class, beating Triumph, Tridents Norton, Commando's and Laverda SF750s' in the 1980's. |
